A Map

I saw a man he’d lost his way

He needed someone to guide

I told him of a map I had

To in his bosom hide

He took the turns that looked the best

And left the others untaken

When he arrived at the wrong place

He said my directions were mistaken

But as he looked into the book

That contained the map I had given

He realized that all the turns written there

Would have led him to heaven

Now that he was far away

From where he intended to be

He said oh, send someone

To tell my brothers for me

But then the one who had spoken at first

Said they have the directions you see

And if they take the proper turns

They will be in heaven with me

For there is a way that seemeth right

In the eyes of a man

That does not lead them to the place

That my directions can

They have the prophets and the law

To safely lead them home

Where the sun will ever shine

Never more to roam

So if they will obey the book

With me they shall ever be

But if they choose to turn away

My face they will not see
